Story (englisch):
Zitat:
The Outcast story begins when Cutter Slade, a former “Navy S.E.A.L.”, is visited by Vernon, a highly ranked member of the US military. Vernon enlists Cutter immediately, and they travel by helicopter directly to a top secret military location. On the way Vernon explains why he needs Cutter’s help. After initial experiments performed with the combined effort of Anthony Xue (in anti-matter reactions) and William Kauffmann (with string theory and the strings’ connection to parallel worlds), the US military commissioned the pair to make journeys to parallel worlds possible. After they had succeeded in both sending a probe to a planet in a parallel universe, and returning lengthy footage of said planet, a humanoid life-form damaged the probe with an energy emitting weapon. This resulted in explosive feedback, leading to the formation of a black hole near the military base. Luckily, the military base was located in the Arctic, but nevertheless the black hole grew and endangered the earth. Cutter’s mission was to travel to the planet in the parallel universe and to repair the probe. He is accompanied by the two scientists, and a specialist in exobiology, Marion Wolfe.
The Outcast game begins here.
After a blackout arrival on Adelpha, the planet in the parallel universe, Cutter is found by a group of Talan - the primitive humanoid lifeforms native to the planet. Zokrym, the leader of a group of Talan called the ‘Dolotai Guardians’, tells Cutter that he is the long-awaited Ulukai who, it has been prophetised, is destined to free them from the cruel reign of Faé Rhan. Cutter explains the situation concerning the probe. Zokrym agrees to help him find the probe, but in return, he asks the Ulukai to find the five sacred and hidden Mons – objects Zokrym believes may be powerful weapons able to help in the defeat of Faé Rhan. Owing to the lack of alternatives, Cutter agrees to search for the Mons, so long as the Talans look for the probe and his team.
Marion arrived on Adelpha soon after Cutter, who had since pursued many quests for the Mons. They began to hear tales of the prophet Kazar, the one who predicted the arrival of the Ulukai. Faé Rhan, it seemed, arrived on Adelpha from heaven several years after Kazar. Soon after Faé Rhan’s arrival, Adelpha was in chaos. Faé Rhan had associated with a powerful warrior Talan called Kroax, and together they began raising an army of Faé warrior, convincing them that they were a superior breed. Kazar was concerned for Adelpha and her inhabitants’ well being, and requested a meeting with Faé Rhan to settle the chaos. The two met, and argued furiously about the destiny of Adelpha. The meeting concluded violently with the death of Kazar – he was likely reverted (a Talan euphemism for ‘killed’) by either Faé Rhan himelf or one of his warrior Talan. With Kazar gone, Faé Rhan finished building his army and established a dictatorship ruling all of Adelpha. Years later, Cutter and Marion are shown a holographic message from Kazar. It is revealed that Kazar is actually Kauffmann. The pre-recorded message tells them that Kauffmann and Xue mistakenly forgot to factor the Earth’s rotation into their calculations. The result was that they all arrived on Adelpha before the probe which, as Kauffmann predicted in the message, should pop up soon after Cutter’s arrival. It is further revealed that the five Mons are in fact the needed hardware to repair the probe. The message concluded that, disturbingly for Cutter and Marion, Faé Rhan was in fact Xue. In a run for the fifth and last Mon, Marion is killed by Xue, who flees into his shaking, breaking and finally exploding palace. The original Outcast game concludes with Marion’s burial, and Cutter’s return (via probe) to Earth.
