Mark Millar Talks Unconfidently About Wanted 2

Though cameras have yet to roll on Wanted 2 — the sequel to director Timur Bekmambetov's 2008 adaptation of the Mark Millar comic book — the movie has already experienced a long, dramatic saga in its struggles to the starting gate. After scoring $341 million in worldwide box office, the Wanted sequel seemed a no-brainer, and Bekmambetov even had a plan to bring Angelina Jolie's character back from the dead. Then Jolie pulled out of the project. Millar responded to the loss of the actress with how the sequel could move on without her, plans that included replacing Jolie's character with "another cool character." Rumors swirled around Kristen Stewart, who wouldn't confirm nor deny the news.

Last month, Bekmambetov spoke positively about the sequel saying that he was "working" on Wanted 2, but that the sequel wouldn't start until after James McAvoy finishes work on X-Men: First Class. In a recent interview with MTV, Millar didn't speak as confidently:

Well, Wanted 2 is complicated. There’s no book [for] Wanted 2. I would like to do [the movie]. I say if it happens, great. If it doesn’t, I’m not bothered.

Millar revealed that despite the movie's success, he has no plans to write a comic book sequel.

I only intended to write down one book, six issues. I had no interest in doing anything beyond that, you know, I was happy with it.Lots of people said to me, "Go and do a sequel or do three sequels, the movie is gonna make a lot of money and the movie would be great for your books sales," but I don’t really write the comics for money, I write them comics because I like them. Sometimes I do things for almost no money at all just because I like doing it, so the idea to write a sequel just because the movie was big seems almost unethical.

Millar addressed the Stewart rumors, saying his daughter "was so excited when she heard that," but replied that there's no truth to the rumors yet since there's technically still no script.

I think there had been some conversations but there isn’t even a finalized screenplay yet so they definitely can’t confirm any actors yet. I have heard that she was approached and she said that she was very excited about the idea in an interview...of working with guys like James or [Bekmambetov] or whoever but it’s all just speculation.

Evan Spiliotopoulos (The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning) is reportedly writing the script for the sequel, which may (or may not) get made soon.

Ich hab mich nichtmal getraut den ersten Teil komplett anzusehen, da ich die Jolie nicht leiden kann und als Mark Millar Fan Angst hab total enttäuscht zu werden.

Und nachdem was ich hier so höre is das auch nicht schlimm Wanted nicht gesehen zu haben.
