Der recht interessante Film dokumentiert das Leben der Prostituierten und ihren Alltag auf der ganzen Welt. Im ganzen Ablauf des Films erzählen dabei weibliche als auch männliche Prostituierte über ihren zum teils harten Job, der mit Drogen, Gefahren, sexuellen Befriedigungen und Träumen verbunden ist. Für manche ein erfüllender Job, für andere wiederum ein auswegsloser Teufelskreis. Neben den Interviews gibt es im Film auch eine kleine Nebenhandlung, die zeigt, wie Rebecca (Denise Richards) wegen Geldproblemen den Einstieg zur Prostitution findet und sich dabei bei ihrer Nachbarin Adriana (Daryl Hannah), die ebenfalls Prostituierte ist, Ratschläge holt.
In den Staaten wurde der Film unter dem Titel "The Life" in einer um 11 Minuten kürzeren R-Rated-Fassung und einer komplett ungekürzten Unrated-Fassung veröffentlicht. Leider steht in Deutschland eine Veröffentlichung bislang noch aus.
